Big Rig Dyno?

We have a chassis dyno at work that the truck shop uses to dyno big rigs with power complaints. I have talked to the operator about letting me run my truck on it. I dont know what kind of dyno it is but it has to be a load cell, I have seen it bring trucks down to the point of shutting off.

Is there any advantage to running on a dyno like this? Hopefully it can load the truck enough I can see close to real world boost numbers.

What does everyone think? Has it been done before?

More than likely wed need a brand/specs on it to tell, but as long as the operator is cool with it and your truck will fit on fine, I say go for it! Load cells are cool imo.

Check the hp rating. Not all diagnostic dynos can retard 500rwhp. That's more than a OTR truck makes.

I wonder since horsepower is a calculation derived from torque and rpm, an OTR dyno may work well. 1500+ lbs of torque with rpm going to 2100 to 2500 rpm. Try it Travis, you may have to let off at 2500rpm at worst. If nothing else we'll know for sure.

I'd say our 650hp twin turbo kitty might not agree w/ you :rofl:

and that factory w/o the add on booster.
a local farmer has a KTA-600 cummins and it's 600 rwhp on a chasis dyno and I've heard of a lot more than that w/ the fuel bumped up.

and torque is around or over 2000ftlbs.
