PLEASE HELP!!!Alright guy's,maybee some ally gurus can shed some light on this cuz im lost.The truck is an 02 with a 04 trans and vb.Just built an Allison 5 sp with rgpz torque kit,transgo,pump mods,ml tq ect...First start up was tonight,Started truck and noticed a ticking from the converter area right away,toped fluid up and let run but no change.The truck will go into reverse and the tick stops and lots of power but when in drive I get the tick and will barly move under its own weight.if I try to do a brake stand it feels like a rev limiter with it going in and out of gear.I also have a co-pilot sylinoid in the vb that's not hooked up yet and the converter came out of a pull truck. felt like when in drive with no gas it lightly jumpes in and out of gear,I took my time with the build and checked clearences to be thorough but this is out of my league and need some guidance with this,I have tried to give as much info as possible and sorry for the long read.Thanks in advance.:confused:

Are you sure the converter is any good?

That I don't know and I was wondering that myself,I bought it used from a member in my area from his puller,It does look a little beat for the 10 or so hooks claimed.I wanted to ask you about the co-pilot syl and internal harness on my vb,Does it need power to open or to close,its in there but not wired,could thet be the culprit or does it sound like the tq?Thanks for the reply Mike,really need some help with this one!

Thanks Mike,Im going to swap it out and see what happens,Really suck's to have to pull that heavy biatch out again but that's what I get for buying used shit,When I pull is there anything else I should look for?

Top valve is from an 04 pump and bottom is from an earlier 5 speed Allison. If you put one of the transgo type converter valves in without making up that difference it can "overstroke" and cause little converter flow and will get hot really quick.

May not be your issue, just asking what valve you used to prevent converter pressure cut-back?

If u used the original valve from that pump it should be fine... But most 04 up valves don't have the pinhole in them I believe??? I've never plugged it and never had an issue.

Could it be a possible wiring issue?Is there a difference between lb7 and lly internal harnesses?Would like to find the cause before start to pulling.

Verry strange though,Reverse feels amazing,feels good going in puts power down but in drive is when the shit hits the fan,if the converter was bad wouldn't it affect reverse as well?

If the sprag is bad, reverse will work ok because of a lower gear ratio.

Ok I got a code finally,p0872,trans fluid pressure censer c circuit low voltage and the 700,these were the only 2 codes other than some abs low fluid.this is in the vb,isnt it?what are some of the symptoms of the stuck e valve?

P0872 is a stuck E shift valve.

Changed the vb to the one out of my original trans without the g syl,removed the co-pilot sylinoid and internal harness.No more p0872 and have all forward gears,reverse and feels good exept im getting a p0742 tcc tq system stuck on and also noticed a small pile of fine silver sludge in pan under the drain in filter.It scared me a little when I saw that one!

Convert clutch is hurt or it wont release. Could be a problem with the converter flow valve.
The problem is; you don't know what the hell you did and neither do we. You do a build when you clearly don't know what you're doing and cheap out on a sled puller converter.
Then you switch a valve body with a ATS PS copilot.
Allisons are easy, right?

Could the p0742 be a bad converter,it is a ml out of a puller and I don't know the history,It also has a ticking sound that comes and goes and almost feels like it lock's at a lower rpm than it should.Has anybody had a similar experience?Thanks for all the reply's as they are always helpful!Shifts well and no other codes.
