It's time for new tires. And I was wondering what has everyone on here had the most success with with on the drag strip? It is still my daily driver so I have to keep that in mind right now. I was thinking nitto 420s but figured I would ask around. Also what wheel and size? My Lbz sits stock height right now with the torsion bars lowered as far as possible. Possibly 2" drop shackles in the near future. Thanks!

Seems the most common setup for a DD/drag, is the Nitto 420. I am not sure on the Toyo Proxies, as people tend to not like them due to a new design. I Personally am a fan of 420s on a 20 inch rim.

All terrains or proxes on PYOs. I've had some really good 60' times on A/Ts. Most are in the low 1.7s, high 1.6s. I would definitely not run a big wheel/ tire combo at the track.

I had really good luck running 275/70/16 Falken Xiex STZ04s on PYOs. Nitto 420s are a great street tire but there comes a time where the weight of the wheel and tire combo will offset the extra width/traction

exactly what i was thinking. I currently have 17"H2s with worn out nitto trail grapplers right now ( tires are a little too worn out now ) which are light but they only make a couple options of tires for a 17"wheel like that. Would you go 18" wheels? with what size tire?

Your truck is the one that got me thinking 20's with nitto 420s! I saw a picture on instagram and was set on it for a long time. how did the bigger wheels affect your times on the track?

Honestly I wasn't able to compare with a similar motor setup and 420s. But I know when I had 305/55s on 20x9s I switched to the 275/70/16s and dropped 4 tenths on back to back passes

H2s are super heavy. You should be able to find an 18 that is lighter with a 285. But not too many are as lightweight as the PYO. I think they're only around 20 pounds.

Yes I still have them

Do whatever you want for a DD setup that looks the way you want it. If you have the dough just get a set of street tires for the PYOs. If you only use them at the track they don't have to be E rated and will be much lighter than any other wheel and tire combo. Also pretty cheap!

I have had great luck with 285/75/16 toyo A/T's. Wear really well and hook good. Can cut consistant high 1.6 60's on a sheety track.

I run 245/75/16s at the track and 285s for the street. Are 245s too small for the track?? I dont see many others running them. Not to hijack.

285 toyo proxes on 17s will hold a 4x4 4000 rpm dump in 3rd gear and 2nd gear in my rig. That's not with 20+ pounds of boost or anything like u autos

That 275/60/17 Nitto 420 on a set of newer GMC wheels would be a good combo.

I have 275/70/16 Proxes on my PY0's. IIRC, they weighed something like 60 pounds a corner. Id have to weigh one again, its been a long while.

I realize that some people like looks over results, but ideally you want to run the lightest wheel/tire combo you can.

My 285 toyo proxes on lmm 17s weighed 64 pounds on a scale with no center caps when they were new. I had 275 Falken ziex on it before they would chirp at the track at 25 psi of tire pressure. At full pressure they would spin all 4 on the street launching hard but no problems at the track. Haven't run the proxes at the strip but they look better and full pressure launch better than my falcons, so I imaging aired down they will be better.
