Had the trans limp today on the way to work. Switched to a close to stock tune and cleared the P0700 but will have to wait till I get home to pull up the TCM code(s) with the V2 (assuming it will be slippage in 5th since I was rolling in to the throttle with the converter locked). :booboo:

I am looking to see if anyone has used anything in conjunction with the ATSG manual and their kit instruction that was worth while to have around. I have the ATSG and have gone through it a few time while I was deployed awhile back.

I need to get my ducks in a row first, but the plan is to do the build myself with a SunCoast GMAX kit and probably a 1058 converter with, hopefully, some advice from some of the SMEs out there on what I should be replacing with it down and out.

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong. I should still be able to pull up the freeze frame with the V2 if I hadn't physically cleared it. Got home and no history of any other code. So figured it might have been a fluke went for a drive with V2 hooked up and it ended up throwing a p0735. Limped home in fourth. No reverse and shifting from neutral to drive was really rough. Assuming that's from stopping parts from free rotation. Any insight is appreciated.

Ever rebuilt a trans before? Mechanical background?

I like using my genuine Allison manual, goes in depth more than the ATSG but isn't necessary in most cases. There's a few tools to make the job easier, and you can make your own if you have time.

I haven't purchased a Gmax kit, but IIRC they come with all the orings and seals you should need to replace on a regular rebuild. You can also get a set of torrington bearings for peace of mind. Good luck.

The edge cleared out all of your codes. It does delete trans codes.

I use both trans times and atsg manuals. Both have ups and downs.

Im not a fan of the gmax kit. To me its not a full kit. Evan at limitless diesel has great kits.

A trans build takes a lot of mechanical ability. They are not that easy to do.

Anybody can build a trans and make it go down the road. Few can do it and make it last under any sort of hp.

Yes, rebuilt a few powerglides and T/H350s and I'm a mechanic by trade for the AF. My career field maintains a wide variety of equipment that are primarily ran with diesel engines and a few that have gas turbine engines. Systems include air conditioners, air compressors, heaters, generators, nitrogen generating equipment, and hydraulic equipment that the aircraft maintainers use. Thanks for the wish of luck:thumb:

Yup and in the name of troubleshooting I went and made it slip with the V2 connected which gave me the p0735. But with the V2 still connected, only shutting the truck off and turning it back on, is what cleared the code the second time.

I use both trans times and atsg manuals. Both have ups and downs.

I've been searching but what is the trans times. I've seen it mentioned but not sure where to acquire it.

From what I'm hearing I'll have to check out Evan's kits.

Where can I get an Allison Tech Manual/ATSG manual for a 6 speed Allison out of an 2011 LML?

I'm getting one built by DDP, but I've always wanted to play with a trans and build one. Qualified to build one, just never have had the time/money.

Do you sell individual transmission parts also Evan? Or just complete kits?

I strongly recommend give Evan a call for any transmission parts you may need. He helped me fix up the tyranny in my lmm that was a suncoast kit. This spring when I do my lml, I'll be getting a kit from Evan and one of his converters.

Trans held up just fine. I know a lot of people don't like him but it was nice to be able to watch.

Mine shifted fine too, I tore it down for inspection when I did the 4x4 swap and my c3's were toast.

Sounds like you'll be fine.

As others said, its better to buy a kit from a good shop that is willing to help if you need it (if you're dead set on building yourself). A lot easier for them to diagnose if there's an issue when they know exactly what was put in the trans.
