not trying to argue but what parts have we both used? i had stock mpi twins, you had big twins. now that i have big twins, i love them. ive never said other wise about that. i have 60 over extrude hone inj. yours are big dipper 45. you had a 1055 and ive had a 1057 and now ml. i know youve put the ml in some trucks, i guess i just have that bad of luck.

Not an argument at all , just giving you my honest opinion , on the twins Your right i have never ran that setup but am suspect of that gt45 turbo the only 2 trucks i have been aware of with that 2nd turbo have had problems , the converters, i have personally owned the 1054 , 1055 , and now a Precision , and have installed or worked trucks with , 1057 , 1056 , ATS , and Precision , pretty much the only converter i haven't driven is a 1058 and some of the new custom precision models .

I'm not looking to start an arguement, all I was asking is what's the best converter for a 2wd race truck that will only see the track? I've heard different stories so that is why I'm asking? So once again is there a "specific" converter that is better than the next for a 2wd?

Since you don't have a T-Case you only have high range. I would pick your turbo first then get a converter accordingly. My 1055 with stall to almost 2800rpms which is great for big singles and bigger twins. But if you are running a smaller turbo you can get away with a tighter converter like a 1057,1056,1058 and most of the standard Precisions. Precision does have custom higher stalls though but I have not personally run one.

Sorry man  , for a 2WD I would go loose , either Suncoast 1055 or Precision has a few high stalls , the one i just got I believe is a 2600 or 2700 stall cant remember for sure .

there are several other variables that need to be considered before you select a torque converter.... 2wd is simply not enough:D what size turbo(s), horsepower etc. If you are trying to spool a GT47 on the line as a single chances are you're going to need a loose converter :D

so you like the 55 for a decent sized single?

thanks I like my precision in my 2wd lmm but I didn't know about our race truck which will only see the track.

So basically we are eventually goin to do an s475 so I guess the 55 would work..

I run a S474 with the big exhaust wheel and I love the 55. I have zero issues spooling the charger in 4hi. In 4lo I had to delete 1st gear to be able to spool it on the pulling track.

ML Precision should work fine with the S475 :thumb:, why dont you give Mike L.a call and discuss your plans for the truck and he will point you in the right direction.

X2.

We can all speculate what might work in your application, but Mike has enough experience behind him to intelligently pick a converter for YOUR needs.

That being said, I have only run the stock and ML precision converter and except for one issue (may or may not have been the converters fault), I have loved my Precision converter. Precision also took care of the issue and it has been awesome ever since.

Edit: Mike (even though he didn't build my tranny) has offered help, tech support, and assistance whenever needed (something to think about as well).
