I have searched and found a few things but still wanted to make a thread. Whats a good cold air intake for my 05 duramax? It has a sticker on it that says K&N but the previous owner took it off. I usually like K&N and would like to get another one but there is like 5 different kinds. Thanks in advance for your time guys.

Just keep reading and you will just have to pick one, I bought an S&B after the dealer broke my oem intake. The S&B is an inexpensive kit that works good.

Their was a thread about this a while ago and alota people agreed that just doing a stock airbox mod will work just as well and you save a few hundred bucks.

I had the same question a while ago and I found out the factory airbox and filter is good up to 500hp. An aftermarket intake and filter will set you back $$ even the guys/gals running drag trucks are only picking up 0.10 in the quarter mile. Save your money and go with factory paper filter. In my expierence K&N are only beneficial if your running WOT all the time.

I thought that the '06 and up oem intakes were different the the '01-05.

Mine the dealer broke off the tabs on the bottom and I didn't see it for about 3000 miles when I did my oil change and eng maint. Just the box the filter sits in cost more than the S&B complete kit,
