See, I know Im gonna get punked for saying this.. lol But I want to do my first diesel conversion. And Ive got a 92 ex cab short bed Z71 with a healthy 350 that I built. I have acquired a 215 p-pumped 12 v.. and considered planting it in the frame rails.. but My Z71 is a 5 speed (nv4500).. Now my cousin has an 87 1/2 ton reg cab long bed 305 auto 4x4 chevy.. He wants the 350 out of my truck.

So we came up with this deal where we swap trucks, and it saves us both money and time, IF.. IF the long bed reg cab is a better base setup for drag racing..

What would ya'll do?

Reg Cab short box. If I was running a 2wd, I'd put a Quadrasteer box on the truck, so I could put larger tires under the truck. Plus, I think the plastic box sides are slightly lighter than the steel ones.

Lower the whole truck, install the entire drivetrain from a 2500HD, and away we go....

Heck, a 500rwhp stock setup like mine would run mid-11's easy.

With an EXT/SB you can put a rollcage/rollbar inside without going through the window or blocking the bed.

Remember that they changed the rules on a cage if built to a certain spec you don't need the bars running out the back of the cab.
