Depends on what you're wanting to do. If you are leaving the truck stock, no gauges are needed. If you tow heavy and have a tune, a pyrometer is a good idea. I have a built motor, and the only gauge I have is a pyrometer for when I tow and testing new tunes.
I don't like pillar gauges, personally. My pyrometer is down by my parking brake release lever under the knee bolster. You can get mounts that put the gauges in the overhead console too.
