LBZ: Banks pyrometer to Edge swap

Hopefully someone can ease my mind here. I had a Banks economind tuner with iQ on the truck when I bought it. I didn't care for the banks setup so I've pulled everything but the thermocouple for the pyro. I need to swap it out for an edge pyro soon.

My question is, would the banks fitting that's already in the manifold be the same size as the fitting for the edge pyro? (Best case scenario)

If it isn't, how hard is it to get a fitting back out of a manifold if it's even possible? I have no idea how long it has been in there already.

Any help is appreciated I didn't want to pull the wheel and inner fender just to find out that I'm going to need to buy more stuff. I'd like to have a game plan together before I start pulling it apart.

Thanks in advance

let the engine warm up a little bit get the manifold a couple hundred degrees and spray it with some penetrant oil while hot and it should back out. no edge is 1/8" pipe thread and not sure if the Banks will be 1/4 or 1/8 but if it is bigger just get a brass 1/4" pipe to 1/8" pipe thread bushing and screw the edge probe fitting int hat way. should be simple.

Thanks I'll give that a shot. I can see it from the top but it's hard to tell what size it is. Without pulling the wheel off I can't see much from the side.

Very good tip on the brass adapter fitting. I was thinking I'd have to leave the banks in to plug the hole, cut the wire, and drill a new one for the edge. The adapter is a much better idea.

Update: I finally managed to find what tap is used for the banks. It is 1/4 npt so the search is on for a 1/4 npt male to 1/8 npt female bushing. Online it looks like AutoZone carries them, but whether or not the idiots at my local AutoZone will be able to find it will be the issue. Thanks again! This will save me a lot of headache and hopefully this thread will help someone else in the future. I think there are a few other guys wanting to take their banks programmers off and go to efi with an edge insight cts so they will need to know this.

Brass gets used in exhaust all the time. It'll be fine.

I got anxious and tried it yesterday. The outside fitting diameter that holds the thermocouple in is the same on the banks and the edge. The hole that goes through the fitting is slightly smaller on the banks (of course it is) so I'm going to run a drill down the old fitting tonight. I tried to pull it out but it's feeling like it's going to twist off instead of unthread so I'm going to attempt to get the few thousandths I need with a drill.

7/32nd bit down the banks fitting did the trick for anyone who is looking to do this. No pulling the fitting or adapters needed.
