Well I decided to clean my air filer after having it on for about 8 months and never showing any signs of being pluged on the indicator. Was suprised at how heavy the filter was so I weighed it and then washed it. After letting it dry and reoiling it I weighed it again and the filter had lost 2.8 lbs. When I put the filter back in I checked the itake piping and turbo and there was no dirt or oil any where. Very impressed with this filter. Just wish the other Banks products I have tested were this good.

PS. this filter had seen hundreds of miles on dirt roads here in the oilfield.

Good report. I have heard good things about the Banks intake, looks like it lives up to it. Thanks for the report

While ago was worried about banks filter being the same as the K&N which lets a lot of dirt by. Later found out it was its own filter, well not K&N at least. Have a banks sitting at home to install.

A guy on the "other" forum had a custom pre-filter made for the banks. Looks good. Might go that route. With the scoop, anyone find a good deal of debris in the box? I have a true ram air on my VW Jetta with the intake in the "fog light" hole near the road. While the intake track is dry and clean (paper filter), the box itself is full of gravel and bugs. I'm wondering if the pre-filter will keep the bugs out and other "larger" bits and pieces if they make their way up the scoop. Is this happening?

I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, no debris in the scoop or the box.

Pat said there was some debris in the box when he changed the filter before I went to Sacramento last year. But, my scoop is blocked completely to make it true ram-air.

I plan to make the system a "real" ram air setup also, well at least during the summer. Since they do gravel the hell out of the roads here in Colorado, the pre filter may keep things cleaner and easier to clean when the time comes.

Let me know how that pre-filter works out for you.
