Anyone running the Banks Economind? If so, I would like to hear your experiences and opinions. Im not into drag racing, sled pulling, or smoking intersections, just towing my boat to the water and relaxed driving. Im getting ready to loose the kitty and swith to the LBZ mouth piece. I like the fact that Banks is into "protecting" the equippment. Any thoughts??
I had a Banks Six-Gun Bundle w/PDA, it worked great, but don't be fooled....it will break the tranny if you leave it on the higher tunes and work the truck. I never had any issues towing (max weight was about 10k #) with it on level 6. I put a 2800# slide in camper in the bed and limped the tranny (I had about 130k miles on the truck, with the last 30k on the Banks).
The only thing that will "protect" the truck at levels higher than stock is your right foot.
With all that being said, I never had a problem with the Banks system. I would recommend buying EFILive from a good vendor and tell them what you want to do with the truck (in my opinion the software should come with the type of tune you want from the vendor). Then you should get some gauges. It would be cheaper in the long run. It is also easier to switch back and forth from stock to "tuned" with the EFILive than the Banks system. You might need to check with someone else, I have heard that the newer ECM's log the number of times that they have been flashed. My LB7 does not have that issue.
You also need to be careful of buying the Banks products from some vendors on the net. Banks gets REAL touchy about their warranty issues if you do not buy from them or an authorized reseller. The $$ you may be saving on the net may cost you if there is an issue with the device.
My Banks System on Level 6 gave me 2 more MPG than stock. I do even better with EFILive, with the added benefit of being able to tune and modify more parameters on the truck. Just my opinion...
