what is the best way to get the badges and door moldings off? I bought a set of non-marring scrapers from snap-on today but still a little nervous. Some insight would be greatly appreciated.

I always use fishing line and goo gone

I've heard alot of people use that too and never have problems. Even heard of heating it up with a blow dryer but not sure how well that would work

I used a blow dryer to heat them up, then took the fishing line peel them off. after that take the blow dryer to heat up the left over tape and start rolling it with your fingers. I dont like using GOO GONE because the chemicals are hard the clear coat. Use rubbing alcohol or WD40. then cut some cutting compound, buff it out and wax it. g2g.:thumb:

I use WD40 also. Works a lot better than goo gone. Spray it on and let it sit for a little while. Wipe it off then use a fresh clean rag (micro fiber wont scratch the paint) and rub the rest of the glue off.

Depending on how long the emblems have been on there...

I took all my molding and badges off. Used a hair dryer to get them warm. Then i just peeled them off slowly. A few off them came off and left no glue at all on the paint. For the ones that did I got an eraser wheel, put it in my cordless drill and "erased" the glue. It was super easy and didn't harm the paint at all. did them all in a few hours. Stay away from all the goo gone and wd40. Its a waist of time. Just get the wifes hairdryer and an eraser wheel.:thumb:

I use a heat gun to warm and peel the emblems. Then what's left over of the adhesive strip I use an eraser wheel. Works awesome. Have done prolly 30 trucks and cars that way.:thumb:

Fishing line to saw them off. Try to get as close to the paint so you can get the big stuff off. Then get some 3M adhesive remover (this shit works extremely good) and spray it on the left over adhesive. I used an old gift card to scrape the stuff right off. Or you can get an eraser wheel and be done with it in 5 minutes.

Parked it in the sun for a few hours (summer time)soaked em with WD 40, and pulled on them parallel or as close to parallel to the body panels as possible most came off in one piece. Take your time and don't rush pull slow and steady, used fingers and WD 40 to get off remaining glue

wow, thanks for all the help guys i was shocked at all the different ways:hi5: I also have some buddies that are looking at getting theirs off as well so i might have each one try a different way to see what way is easier. I want them all gone but the DMAX and get rid of those stupid ass 4x4 stickers, Truck was prob $35,000+ new and GM puts $5 stickers on them.

No prob. All ways will work for sure. But fastest is eraser wheel, especially if there on an older truck. Just make sure u don't stay in one spot with the wheel. It can burn thru clear coat just like a buffer wheel. But works great.

I have debadged probably 10 trucks this way:

1) heat gun to emblems to warm adhesive 2) fishing line run behind emblem to seperate adhesive from paint...sometimes I get a little impatient and get the end of the emblem started and get a good grip with pliers and yank the thing off 3) eraser wheel the remaining adhesive off

I have gotten to where I can debadge a whole truck in about 5 mins with this method. They always look much better afterward.

So I debadged my truck today, I know that my front clip was repainted but they must have faded it through the doors. Now it looks like shit, probably going to just get the truck repainted now since I dont know how you can do a fade in the center of the truck and it will give me a reason to get mirrors and bumpers paint matched. The back of the truck looks great though and i got those ugly ass 4x4 stickers off. I found a heat gut and a snap-on non marring scraper worked twice as fast as the fishing line. Heat, push, off done. Thanks for the tips guys and girls:thumb:
