In the past week my truck has developed a bad vibration while idling and driving down the road at cruising speeds-60mph. its a steady vibration that you can feel in the seat and through the floor board but not bad enough to shake the whole truck and it is like that the whole time idling and driving. I am thinking it is one of the three things: broken motor mount, harmonic balancer going out or the torque convertor. I am leaning more towards the broken motor mount since there is alot of motor torquing during sled pulling.I will check the mounts tomorrow. Anyone have ideas what it might be? thanks in advance.

Mark the crank pulley and the crank pulley bolt with a marker to see if they are moving.

Will do Kat. If it is that then i have a good excuse to put the fluid damper harmonic balance on it or i might just use whats left of my warranity and let gm give me another one for $100

i have checked everything and found nothing. i even checked the exhaust hanger that holds the front pipe since i have had problems with the rubber isolator coming out the bracket. But i didnt found anything so i think it might be the nature of the beast.

I think i have found the problem but will know for sure tomorrow. I believe I have a wheel bearing going out. I have read where people sound it sounds like a helicopter flying over them and thats what mine is doing.

Holy Fack!!! If your wheel bearing is making that noise it's not going out - it's gone!! Probably in the ditch before long!!

I resemble that remark :D Mine wound up in the ditch and didn't even make noise. I'd get it checked out quick if you think thats what it is. But I thought you said it did it while idling also?

wheel bearing

its real easy to check just jack the truck up and wiggle the wheel, if its making noise its pretty bad shape there will be noticable slack, rockauto.com had them the cheapest if you can wait on shipping.

I have found the problem. Right side wheel bearing is gone. I will be calling the dealer up monday to get it fixed and let warranty do its job before it runs out. Thanks for all the info on how to check somethings.

BTW. The vibration i felt while idle is normal. I had a brain fart that day when i was writing.
