My transmission doesn't shift good until it's warmed up. It never used to be this way in past winters and wasn't like this until the outside temperature dropped this time around. The worst is 1to2. it just hangs it a while before it shifts. Then the first time I come to a stop, the downshift from either 3to2 or 2to1 is just nasty. I mean, it feels like the tires are on the verge of chirping it slams down so hard. Once it's warmed up it does alright.

Suggestions?

I'm starting to think I hurt some internals when my tailhousing cracked and the fluid level got pretty low. Although there never has been excessive material on the filter magnet. The shifts are just not crisp like they used to be and in WOT 3to4 and 4to5 hang up just as bad as they used back when I had my VA Stoopid box even though I haven't changed tuning one bit. Like they hang up so bad I have to let out of the throttle a little before it will shift. I try not to let it do that and let up before it hangs up. I hate that though because both of these tunes used to be flawless in my truck! 99% of the time I've got DP120 loaded via DSP5. The exception is when I switch it to the main/race tune, which is DPV6, for the occassional romp.

Hanging shifts, like it does in WOT 3to4 and 4to5 is most often, if not always, a problem in the tuning, isn't it?

Perhaps it's worth mentioning that I have never touched the TCM tune in this truck.

I had a similar issue yesterday. It wouldn't shift out of 4, I could get it to, but it took some playing with the throttle. Trans temp was 110*, engine temp was about 180*(quarter up the gauge). I had the truck plugged in before I drove it, its been sitting alot. Drove it about 10 miles and shut it off, got back in it about 4hrs later (not plugged in) and it shifted fine for the 10 mi return trip.
I am wondering if the issue wasn't fuel gelling slightly to cause a restriction in the filter? It was 24* here yesterday. I also just switched it to transynd a week ago, didn't know what fluid you guys are running and experiencing this.

I had that problem a month ago, changed the spin on & sump filter was better & it started to get cold again issue came back. Most of the time its 4-5 shift that hangs on the highway unless its really cold it will hang on the 3-4, converter is not locking until temp comes up & then shifts.

It hasn't been below 10* here I don't think, and certainly not below zero. I was reading where some guys were seeing temps BELOW -40*. wha tha fuh??? to hell with that!! I don't like the cold here. Ain't no way I could hack that kind of cold. Hell, you couldn't even have any bare skin showing in weather that cold for fear of nearly instantaneous frost bite. F that!!
