Backup camera problems

This seems like a silly question, but I need a little help troubleshooting this.

A few weeks ago I installed an Edge Insight, with accessories including the Edge backup camera. Plug & play, very simple install. Well, it quit working 3 days ago. The fuse & gound are still good, and all of my connectors are still plugged in. The Insight is not recognizing the camera, it's no longer in the Menu screen like normal(no more "View Camera" option in the Menu). I'm at a loss on this one.

I tried calling Edge for some troubleshooting help. That sucked. Sat on hold for 9 minutes, a guy picked up & said "Edge products" then hung up on me. I tried again, and after 4 minutes on hold, the same guy did the same thing, and hung up on me.

Anybody have some knowledge to share?

I sent them an email yesterday after the phone event. Still haven't gotten a response.

I did call them again today, and spoke to a guy there. He told me that if I had power and ground, I'd probably just have to send it all in to them for warranty. But I bent his ear for a while, and he gave me one idea that should tell me if the problem is with the Insight or the camera. I'm going to plug in a DVD player video RCA cable to the Insight. If the video works, it's the backup camera failing. If the video doesn't show up on the Insight, then the Insight is bad.

That way I'll only have to send in the bad component, not everything. I'll probably try the DVD player this weekend. I have too many other plans after work all week long.

I hooked up my back up camera to a small flat screen tv from the house just to try it out while I was waiting on the head unit. Worked good.

its not as cut and dry as hook dvd player and then either camera is bad or insight is bad. ive had new style back up camera from edge and had same problem your talking about. i called edge and they told me there prolly some interference with the ground or some other wiring. i did some more reading found alot ppl have same problem. from what i read its ground wire is getting interference from the alternator and to run ground directly to the battery. havent tried it yet as found that out after sold the edge and bought nice sony for way cheaper than edge sold for used but havent got around to installing it yet.
