I have a 2011 SLT 2500 with a factory backup camera that's been acting up lately. Sometimes the signal would get flaky but the camera would stay on. But now it has shut off completely, the light on the mirror flashes but no video is shown.

I've checked the fuses and pulled the plugs apart behind the plate and did some poking with a volt-meter previously before it started working again.

A couple weeks ago I was installing some car seats in the back and I got mad and slammed the passenger doors. After that my camera worked for about 2 weeks and now it has quit again.

Any guidance on what I should check?

A buddy of mine has an 09 gmc with the display in the rear view mirror. He had a shop replace the sending unit in the fuel tank and it hasn't worked since... said he checked all the connections under/near the bed and all were plugged back in, and has checked all the fuses also. Any insight would be appreciated

it sounds like maybe a bad ground, loose solder joint in the camera itself or a loose or corroded connector along the wire run. the NBS trucks use standard AV input from the camera, while its not an RCA cable, you could hardwire a aftermarket camera into the existing wires if the camera winds up being bad (which it sounds like it may be) if the camera displays at the radio then the wires are going to be in a brown plug behind it, if its up in the mirror the wires will run through the headliner to the mirror. its a single ground reference ans signal wire to the screen.
