Got a Deere 410c that I've been trying to change the hydraulic filter on.

Filter housing is stuck and the nut on the bottom (1.5" drive) is cracked off and leaking.

Tried a large snap on filter wrench and it just broke.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Is it a cannister or spin on?

I wonder if it would be too brittle to drive an old screwdriver through the side of it and twist it off that way. Not too sure. It looks like cast and may just break off in pieces if you try that.

It's cast, and I'd like to save the housing. A new one is over $700 from Deere.

Use a big heavy duty strap wrench, one for industrial equipment. Use the strap wrench and a wrench on whats left of the removal nut.

Ya that's what I'd try. Chain or strap wrench and a snipe. As high up on the cannister as you can get. If it breaks then I guess it's a chisel and hammer and swear words at that point.

I'm guessing not, but can you remove the whole filter head? Had to do that a lot in the past.

That's my last ditch effort... there's a lot of lines that go to the head, they're big, and hard to access...

A-Return From Loader Control Valve
B-Inlet From Charge Pump
C-Outlet To Main Pump
D-Return To Reservoir
E-Return From Backhoe Control Valve
F-Two metric cap screws and nuts
