Backfiring?

Ok so lately under hard acceleration i have been notincing that my truck has been backfiring . From what i know i dont think a diesel should backfire nor have i ever noticed this before. What is the verdict with this phenomena?

Is it random, or is it predictable enough to where you can log it.

what the hell have you changed to make it do that?

mine back fired once and it makes a car back fire sound like a shot from a pellet gun

no changes at all have a lift pump now would bad injectors or bad head gasket cause this
