Hi guys, my name is Tim, i live in Australia and im a huge patrol fan, they just have useless diesels nowadays. So im starting a little project here,

iv bought myself a current model Nissan Patrol, and now im going to shop for a duramax and allison to put in it. i have lots of questions and i hope i can get some help over the coming months.

first questions. . . .

Is there much physical difference between duramax's? size/weight/location of engine peripherals?

Which is the motor gearbox to go for? -and why?

Where should i look to buy one? (i have a way of getting it here already so shipping isnt a pivotal issue.)

Should i buy a built transmission? or is stock fine?

Welcome!:)

From what I hear a lot of people like using 06-10 Engines and transmissions but mostly 06-07 with the 4WD allison and an apapter plate to use the original Nissan transfer case. Most also just run a small tune and a stock trans.

I know a guy that might be able to help you over there too:thumb:
