So I was wondering about ATF shelf life. Most of us buy enough AFT to change the fluid and have some left over to top it off when its needed. I try to put the date on the container so I at least know when it was opened, but how long can I keep the fluid before I need to toss it and get a new container of fluid?

A couple of years I would expect. It's not being subjected to any heat or oxidation or contamination while sitting in the container.

I know with opened bottles of oil (factory seal gone and cap on the bottle), the additives can oxidize over time depending on temperature, humidity, and air in the bottle. Just wasn't sure if this was the same case with ATF.
