Truck in my signature has an electrical short. This is what I've tried so far. I ran a test light in line on the neg battery terminal an got a bright glow from the light that starts to blink or flash after about 10-15 sec. I then went through my fuse block pulling each fuse and relay one at a time while watching the light and it never went out. Did the same with the fuse panel under the dash. Still nothing. I've had the alternator tested and both batteries and all was showing good.( Ive since charged the drained batteries and leave them disconnected so the don't drain when I'm not working on it.) I've also had the starter checked and it was ok. I've unplugged every aftermarket add on from the power sorce and nothing changes. I've also unplugged my power seat and that didn't change anything. I hooked a multymeter inline in place of the test light and it showed a .52 amp draw. I don't have an under hood lamp and my dom light isn't staying on, so I'm at a loss and need help and more ideas of what to check or how. Also the only time I saw a change in the light was when I pulled the passenger side dash cover and started unpluggin the electrical plugs one at a time. It was either the orange/cream colored plug or the black plug and the light seemed to dim slightly. Anyone know what those go to? Also I have burnt out dash lights could that cause an issue? I unplugged the cluster from the dash and that didn't change anything that I could tell. Any help or ideas would be great, I'm about to lose my mind over this and I miss being able to drive my truck without fear that I'll get stranded if the batteries get drained.

Maybe the interior fuse box is shorted internally and that's why your dash lights are out to? Just throwing out ideas. Those things do some weird things when they go haywire, I had to replace mine cause the odometer quit working and it was only $40 from a junkyard. If you're out of options may be worth a try. I'm not a fan of throwing parts at things but with electrical gremlins there's not much choice.

Could be the body control module but if you pull the bcm fuse that should go dead, also there is a master fuse under the black plastic fuse box in the motor compartment IIRC its a 125 or 175 amp fuse and it bolts in i blew mine and had to replace it,try removing it and see if our test light goes dead also try disconecting the ecm and the tcm either that or maybe you have some thing that rubbed thru a positive line and is slightly grounding and making a draw.does it do it on both batts? or only 1?Normally the ruck sences the draw and shuts power off so the batt doesnt drain so whatever it is the trucks computor probably isnt in control of whatever it is or it would shut it down.

Try connecting you should hook your meter up to the positive on your battery and with the negative lead unhooked. Then try pulling fuses again. I tried just having the meter in line like you posted on another vehicle and pulled fuses and nothing..then hooked up the meter the way I just said and started pulling fuses and found the culprit.

Well nothing worked.:( I unplugged the computer(s) and nothing changed. Ran the multimeter inline pulled the fuses one at a time, still nothing. This is getting old fast. I'm not even sure what to try next. I heard about the memory seats causing issues and the trailer brake box. I believe I've unplugged them and that didn't change anything either.

update on this, apparently my bcm wasn't plugged in completely and was causing the drain. crazy i know but once properly plugged in the truck has been ok four months now without battery drain
