So I just want to be clear

Thread studs into block hand tight I got that

Do I use the Arp moly lube on both ends or just the side with the nuts?

I Then torque the Studs to 125LB FT I was gonna go in steps 60-90-125

Then I have to Break them loose and then go straight to 125 3 more times Correct ?

Two more questions

With the motor in the truck I think I have to put all the studs in once the heads are already on the block due to clearance issues?

Also I can only find the tightening sequence for a LLY but all Dmax motors would be the same sequence. Right?

And Lastly my arms will be really tired:rofl:

1) Hand tight is fine.
2) Use the lube on the head side not the block side.
3) Use the step method each time for even clamping of the head gasket. You don't necessarily have to back them off all the way, but at least to say 50 lbs or so.

I am pretty sure only 1 stud will give you grief,Driverside firewall corner

Put the stud in the head when you install the heads to the block and you will be fine:)

Interesting thing I found is even with stretched bolts and torqed down the next morning (8 hrs) l the first stud wasnt at full torque on both heads.

So I got the passenger side on was able to put the studs in before setting the head down.

I haven't tightened anything yet because I need some 1/2" drive 12 points.

With the tightness of the drivers side I should probably leave those studs out till the heads on? And the drivers rear put the stud in with the head?

Do the ARP M8 Bolts use the factory specs for torque?

Just try putting the head on and then see what studs you cant fit in;) Those are the ones you need to leave in the head before install

The M8s I would just tq to stock spec, they are just bolts are they not? Not studs? Mine ARPs didnt come with the M8s

Yea they are bolts I was planning on reusing the factory ones but I found them at the bottom of the box. The instructions don't even mention them

Ok I think I F***** up I put the L head gasket on the passenger side.

There goes $85

Where should the letters R and L be at the front or back of the motor and should they be facing up or face down

I see "up" printed on the gasket but there are numbers next to it

I think the Right side the R is in the front and facing up

Yeah the R faces towards the front of the motor and can be seen when the head gasket is on the block.

The only difference is a couple of passages are blocked in different spots so it is a easy mistake to make

The Left will be like the one in your picture.

I will be getting another Left Grade C to replace the mishap
