I've used redline assembly lube too. But I don't think you'll find that locally.

Haven't put studs in anything for a while, but they use to give tq specs for straight oil.

Assembly lube? Like a grease or the oil? Cuz the assembly lube Im thinking of is a fluid, an oil, that and the ARP thread lube are two entirely different things. The ARP stud kits I have put in specifically said to use ARP thread lube, IIRC, come with it. I don't remember it giving spec for using oil as the thread lube

The ARP lube is specifically designed to allow for proper torque loading, torque distribution, and friction reduction/lubricity under exterme pressures to allow the bolt/nut to hit the proper torque spec, and not before, due to friction loading...

Im pretty sure you dont want to use oil because it can hydrolock the bottom of a bolt bore and you can pressurized the cavity as you tighten the bolt, and can wind up splitting the thread bore open, or the oil gets trapped in the bore, you can't get the bolt all the way down or later expands when getting heated up, and crack or work a bolt out...

I personally would not use a simple oil or assembly lube, for an ARP assembly lube substitute for a head stud application, they're proprietary functions are worlds apart

Thanks, I've read the ARP sales pitch before Coco.

The redline stuff is tacky, not an oil. And I'm not sure where the hydroloc deal came from, nobody said they were filling the head bolt holes with oil.

She gets plenty of that.

I understand if you want to use the ARP stuff, its your truck. What I don't understand is how everyone thinks its a godsend to the fastener world.
