I sold my first lly to buy an 08 cc 4x4. I kept it for 7k miles and bought my second lly.

It was very weak when pulling, but it was a beautiful truck.

We're talking gas. :)

It does have tow package but might never be used

I know we are. Just giving my opinion of that truck.

Hate to say it, but the new f 150 is light years ahead of the Sierra/silvy 1500. I detail a very small amount of vehicle as a sideline job and just washed an '11 f150 last week. Holy hell that's a nice feakin truck. Looks like a 7 footer could comfortably ride in the back

My Dad has an 08 GMC 1500 CC/SB 4x4 with the 6L. It's more or less basic cloth interior. It's a nice truck to drive and has pretty decent power I guess. I had to drive it for a couple of weeks while my truck was down. My only real complaints were the brakes, I guess some of these trucks had issues with warped brake rotors. I also didn't like the mileage, the truck has that 4cyl mode but still cost me about $65 every 3 days or so. My Dad put one of those 2011 chrome grills in there and it looks sweet.

If I absolutely had to buy a gas engine truck right now, as much as I hate to say it, it would definately be an f150.

I loved my 09. Simple tune and a few other things and the truck was a blast to drive. I wish I had it for a DD but had to sell it to get my dmax :(

Agreed on the F150 comments. My Dad recently bought a used '10 CC/SB fully loaded....holy moly is that a nice truck. What I really loved is he traded his Prius in on it. :roflmao:

Sorry to hear about the car, James. From your comments in that TDI thread, I take it Williams VW has a piss-poor service dept?

I know 2 guys that have had 08 texas editions with the 5.3 and they both have had cam and top end problems. I don't know how common it actually is but both trucks have been in and out of the chevy house since they were purchased. I don't know much more about it than that but it would definitely be something to look in to before getting one.

Williams couldn't even tell she had a bent wheel

It was in for service and told them balance the tires, it has a slight wobble.

I heard a 30 minute story about road force balancing, tire wheel combo, after some miles the wheels and tires move out of balance with each other and can't be correctly balanced, blah blah blah

Took it to Discount and said please check the front right wheel. They took it off, took me back and said look at this. You could see it was bent just by watching it spin on the balancer. IDK if the Techs at williams can only do what the computer screen tells them or what

Neither one of us are happy about getting rid of it. We both love the car, engine, mpgs. But I think the trans is going to be an ongoing problem

I have a friend thats a vw mech with his own shop.He said the only way to buy the tdi is with a 5 speed the auto trans is a bag of pooo and wont last 75 80,000 miles. My mom has a tdi bettle with a 5 speed and loves it,so when i found an 02 jetta auto loaded with the trans bad bought it for 4 gs and took it to him he converted it a 5 speed for 2500 and they love it. My company i work for buys a ton of gm trucks (gas utillity) and they are great trucks, not many problems at all.:thumb:

If you want something you will be working on yourself don't go Ford IMO. Get ready to purchase Snap-On kits to change plugs when they break in the head while your doing plugs. Plus there frontends have always loved to eat balljoints, 04+ Trucks The rotor is hub/rotor assembly on 2wd trucks ($100+ per rotor).

This just my opinion not trying to piss anyone off.

Thats what turned me off from Ford when I bought my dmax van.

We scrapped the Silverado 1500 idea.

It was a nice truck for sure, and we'd be happy with it. But, her payment would be about the same and gas mileage would drop. Trip computer showed like 4 or 5000 gallons and avg of 15 mpg. Yea I know, could have been reset and could get better mpgs but ouch.

Dealer ordered a valve body for the trans of our jetta

They gave the wife a 2011 Golf TDI to drive

Big difference in performance and shifting between the two
