OK so the price of fuel is starting to piss me and my dad off, we are gonna get a bio-diesel kit but there aren't to many restaurants around me. and the ones that do have waste oil for free isn't in very good shape. I've titrated samples from everyones tank and it is bad  now on our farm we have alot of unused ground that we can grow some sunflower or any other good oil producing crop in. just wondering if anybody here knows where i can get a industrial seed press so we can make our own oil. i figured in the summer we can run all of our tractors on straight veg oil and convert some of the oil to bio-diesel for our trucks. in the winter i guess we'll have to run everything on bio-diesel or #2. sorry for the long rant but i wanted to some of your thoughts on this, and see if anybody knows where i can get a seed press.

My neighbor works for a company thats supplies and removes waste oil from restaurants. The new stores, and old are upgrading to a system where a truck will come and pump out the old and pump in the new. I inquired about used oil but they have a contract with a large company who is buying the waste. This swayed my decision to do that in my area. They supply for McDonalds, etc.....

As far as your situation, I am not sure how much crop you would have to grow to get a useable amount of product. Would it be worth the space? Would the fuel burned during the cropping process exceed the amount gained.

Just my first thought.
