I messed with power enrichment, added 3* timing, modded low octane and high octane tables and messed with closed loop sytstems for my colorado and made 23 more rwhp. Blackbear does the rest as I didnt feel comfortable with going any further with limited knowledge.

I am interested in this as well. I have been tinkering with my buddy Jaysons 03 5.3 Silvy here and there.

Be careful giving them weak ole 4L60E's a little extra power! I went through 8 of them in my old 5.3. But them little LS engines love boost. :D

A good built 4l60 will take some power, but weight is a issue. My 4l60 in the colorado has held up great so far after Mike did some stuff to it.

i've got a 6l80 behind my 5.3
What's it take electronics-wise to make that work? Do you have to run a BCM to relay the sifter position to the TCM, or is there another module that can tell the transmission what gear to be in?

Or just point me at some websites, would be much appreciated!

I have played some mostly just the high and low octane tables did add some fuel and timing but and it ran good but I wasn't comfortable with it so just left the octane tables and the rest is stock. He wants some more out of it I really need to get a black bear tune for it.

Buy a 2008
Dang, I was hoping there was some way to stick a 6L80 behind a 2005 5.3L.

On topic, do you have access to a wideband O2 sensor? Getting the VE table dialed in a bit never hurts. Also, a little bit of timing is usually safe. Gas engines aren't as easy to tune blind as the diesels, IMO. Though a RoadRunner and wideband do help a lot :D

I am not sure you cant put it in a older one just the 08's maybe even some 07's have them factory

You can put the 6L80 easily behind any 2007+ (GEN IV) engine. You can put it behind an older 5.3L, but you'll have to run the 07+ ECU which means swapping to the 54 tooth reluctor wheel and front cam position sensor, along with several other minor wiring tweaks.

You Can do the 4L80E swap into your 2K5. I'll sed you a PM on two helpful threads on another site.

I figure that he's looking for the two extra speeds rather than the added strength. I know that I've been doing fine with my 4L60E pushing around my 6000 lb K10 with my cammed 5.3L for a while now. It doesn't even complain about me winding it to 7000 RPM from time to time.

This ^

I think its True blue motorsport, or something like that? They are big trailblazer SS guys.

They make a kit to hook up a T43 (6L80/90 TCM) to an older Class 2 (GMT-800 or trailblazer) Gen IV ECM.

You'll have to swap reluctor wheels and switch to a Gen IV ECM...but you'll at least be able to keep your factory GMT-800 PRND321 display, no ABS lights, and factory tow/haul mode selector.
