Best thing to do is see whats being raced local to you, or you will be stuck with something useless. Go to a few races and see what's used and who builds the front runners. I started out in Karts dirt and asphalt, then moved into 360ci Sprint Cars. Got hurt pretty bad in Karts, so I bought the Sprint car because of a cage and 5pt harness. Raced Sprints for years then got into another bad one at about 120mph, and caught fire.. So I turned my tow rig into a race car lol.

I Race dwarfs cars here in the northwest, it is a very competable in our series. We are open wheel like the sprints. Our motors are Street bike motors like the Kawasaki ZX-10 or the GSXR 1000, Here is a video of one of my races, i am the black and green #88.

I looked at a 2010 ultramax c4 complete race ready kart today. He wanted 1600 for it with nothing extra. It was a very nice kart just don't know it thats high or not for a 3 year old kart. All bearings, chain, sproket, frame, etc was nice. Didn't come with a digital dash. It also needs a adult seat.

Here's a link to the manufactures web page for that chassis.

Here's a link to one of the best circle/4 cycle kart web forums on the internet.

As stated above...go to the local track and check it out! Talk to racers that are sitting around...not the ones with wrenches in thier hands(kind of busy and might not want to talk...).
Most of your money will go towards tires and prep...ask them about that.

Thanks, I found the two karts I looked at today on that forum. I also checked out that chassis page. I really like how easy it is to take out and adjust the rear axle on that chassis. The front camber, caster, stager is easly adjustable too.
