Anyone ever break a glow plug due to excessive power?

Why are people deleting their glow plugs? Has anyone ever broke one due to power / cylinder pressure? What power level?

With bigger injectors glow plugs are your friend, especially on cold starts. Using either to me is much more of a risk compared to having operating glow plugs. Thoughts?
