its almost that time of year where i waste money on myself in order to feel good, gotta love christmas. Im looking to get my tranny in my 03 built to handle 5 or 600hp, prolly wont be at that much hp for awhile but whenever i do get there id like the tranny to hold it. so does anyone know a builder around WA state? and if so do you have any ball park cost figures? thanks

The best is 2 states away in California... Mike Lovrich of Inglewood Transmission in Fullerton. You would be doing yourself a favor by coming down :thumb:

Drive to see Mike L. In S. Cal, or Rob at ATP in Boise. Most of us in WA did our own tranny, not really any choices in state that I know of.

That isn't all that much HP, there are several places around that can handle that, get in touch with OSUbeaver, he has a shop in the Portland area that can certainly take care of you. If you were looking for big power then I'd say call Mike for sure. Ultimate Transmission in Boise can also fix you up. The kind of HP you are looking to hold doesn't require that much.:thumb:

I mean right now it's 5 or 600 but when I reach that then I'll prolly want more, how much cost difference is there between a 600hp build and 1000hp build? For me 600hp I would be more than happy but if it's not a lot more to build it for say 1000hp than I'd just go for it. Anyone have any prices for what I'm looking for on a tranny build?

Not much more at all... usually from Mike its around 4500$ out the door for a stage IV. My trans is great. It would be in your best interest to call Mike and discuss what you want 714 870 7300

You should sit down and do a REAL cost list on the engine you propose to put in that truck for over 700 hp. A good place to itemize parts is socaldiesel from Guy on crank, girdle, rods, cam, heads since he makes the 427 stroker for an example of that level you say you want to be at. Next is the twin turbos or what mix of parts you place on the outside parts. Shock is a good way to try and describe what happens to look at that kind of engine. Not being negative here just watching to see where it goes eventually. It is alot of money even for the guys who have alot of money.

I'm not looking for over 700hp I'm looking for about 5 or 600hp, and yes I know it's goin to cost to get to my desired hp but I'm not concerned with that right now. All I'm looking for was someone close that is capable to build a good tranny. With any hobby you gotta pay to play but when I do start on my motor it's gonna be a piece here and there, I just want to have a tranny capable of putting the power down when I get there

you've gotten some good suggestions for a tranny, I will give you some good advice for free. Keep your truck under 600 hp and you have a ton of fun and it won't break you. Over that it get very expensive, especially when you break it and believe me you will sooner or later.

I was in the same boat as you. I could not find anyone close to me to build my trans. They wanted alot of cash to install it and I did not want the hassle of trying to figure out how to get my truck to their shop when something is wrong with it. After debating these issues I just decided to do the work myself in my shop with the ever so welcome aid of Mike L's knowledge and guidance...:).
