My buddy was drivin his 99' Stroke to Texas fri evening and goin 75mph down the interstate it with no warning, broke a connecting rod and windowed the block and oil pan!  ........

SO....Pretty sure hes gonna have me do a Budget/mild build motor for him when we find a good core motor to start with.

99' F-350, 7.3L Powerstroke
Heres what were thinkin: Full gasket set, new stock Mahle pistons an rings. Stock forged ford rods- polished and peened beams, weight matched, by me.
Have the rotating assembly balanced. All nessasary machine work done if needed. Freshen heads with some porting done. Might make some custom intake boxes/plenum. Maybe somthing in the GT40/S300 range for a new turbo. Hes also really thinkin of goin Procharger instead if we can find a decent price used one! Completly revamp the fuel system, tank to motor and bypass/return full flow through plumbing on the heads and ditch the stock fuel bowl. Maybe some more, dunno?

If anyone has some prices on the above, lemme know!

Also prices on:
Head studs
improved valvetrain parts?
Should we de-lip the ford slugs? If so, how much?
Any cheaper after market rods avalible?
Better HPOP (high psi oil pump-for injection)
Engine oil pump

Anything else you might deem neccesary that ive overlooked, point it out! Im not very familure with Fords weak/strong points.

Right now all it has is an S&B, 5" MBRP, And a T&S 6-Chip and think it might be 175-200 on top setting. It didnt have enough air or fuel to fully utilize what its got. He wants to be able to do so and maybe then some (can have the chip reburned) But want this sucker to hold togather and make a bit of power too, but nothing too extreme either. 450-500hp should be plenty. It was his daily driver/work truck, had about 250K miles when it let go. If you guy need anymore info, let me know!

Will Do! Thanks for the help on the phone the other day! Great group of folks!

As for the truck, looks like his finances took a plunge so the fun stuff is on hold as on the moment, But we still want to put togather a decent long block so later he can throw power at it! He's going to be making a trip to Colorado here shortly to get a core motor he bought. Before we dig into anything, ill give you guys a shout again! Thanks again:hug:
