Anti theft ideas?

Just had a Chevy Express van stolen from me a week ago and it's making me think of a good way to protect my LBZ. From what I gather, the LBZ does not have a transponder key system like my Denali does, and I'm realizing that crime is getting worse. I'm torn between something like a Ravelco system and a GPS tracking system. I've had car alarms and really don't have much faith in them, other than being noise makers that no one pays attention to.

Any ideas?

Or a toggle switch inline with the passlock sensor. Once the truck is off, turn the toggle off and the BCM won't send the signal to the ECM to allow it to start. You just have to make sure to NOT turn it off while the truck is running. If you do the BCM will revert back and disable the passlock system and start without it.

My neighbor had a security system that involved a magnet under that dash in the center and the opposing magnet in the key chain, if you didn't swipe the Keychain on the dash magnet until it beeped the truck wouldn't start.

I wish i could remember what it's called but if they get IN your truck it would help atleast gain some time.

GPS is a good way to go because if they can't start your truck they can still tow it away.

But lockable DSP5 is the best. Plus with the 4 other tunes you can escape quickly!

put it in a garage or behind a locked gate.

seriously though. my truck got broke into 3 times, never actually stolen though. i knocked a wall out, cut the header board above the garage door and made room to put my lifted rig in the garage. before that, i made room to put in on the side yard behind a double locked gate.

My key lock dsp5 is where my cargo light button used to be. Now I just need a no start tune. I could probably rig up a toggle on my clutch safety.

Who can write me a valet tune that will shut the truck off and lock all doors once the truck is taken out of park. And disable the locks so the key fob can only unlock it.

I always pull my starter relay wherever I go somewhere with my truck.

When im feeling really scared I unhook the ECM connectors.

I have a hidden toggle switch for my PTO/High Idle circuit. I changed table B1902 to 100mm3 @ 0mph but then set the rest to -100mm3. High idle works perfect but the instant there is speed registered the throttle pedal goes dead. Great for if someone gets your keys or tries to carjack ya.

Frankly with no locking steering column these trucks can unfortunately be stolen in 15 seconds regardless of theft system. Crawl underneath and pop off the shift cable, break out the window, then have an acquaintance push the truck away with another vehicle. Best bet is to park it in a more secure spot.

I never have to worry about my truck being stolen. It's got full coverage insurance and book value is about $2500 more than I have in it. Bring it on carjackers!

Yeah I thought so too.

One of the reasons I like it is for the simple reason of, it's not an alarm...it doesn't draw attention with sound or light or have any indicator lights blinking.

It's a system disabler, but it's not technically a "seperate" system.

It gets wired/looped into several of the vehicles operating systems and the cap of the Ravelco unit is the key/circuit closer and supposedly they're all unique and wired differently. There's a ground or two mixed into the wiring of the unit so even if someone were to try and jumper wire the connections, if they hit a ground it will short out an operating system and the vehicle won't run.

I also like the fact that Ravelco doesn't have a whole bunch of installers, they only have a couple in each region of the country, so
A) there's not a whole lot of people who know how these get wired
B) directions aren't plastered all over the internet
C) the installers are like franchise owners, and I believe they have to have background checks to become liscenced installers so there's security in that too

The Ravelco anti theft devise has been around since the late 70's and no vehicle equipped with it has ever been stolen! How's that for success?!!

As we can afford it, all our cars will become equipped with the Ravelco

I pull the starter and headlight relay. There are 3 under the hood that are the same, if you pull the starter, you can replace with headlight, so I pull two. the third is the ECM I think.

I had a valet tune that maxed out at 5 mph and I had the dsp switches ground on a hidden switch under the dash, you just have to have the valet as the base file. Try to steal it at that speed...

Damn, yinz need to move to a better neighborhood. Lol. I leave my keys in the ignition. If they make it out of my driveway without getting shot, they'll probably wrap it around a tree within a few miles.
