It's getting colder here in KY and first diesel truck . At what temp range should I look at adding a anti Gel additive? All my years in the army we never had to ad anything even at -30*. They used to switch to DF1 and now use JP8.

I just typically use power service most of the time in the winter, I always fill up and dump in a bottle whenever its supposed to get real cold and never have had a gel problem with it. It is supposed to help fuel economy but I think thats BS, but i have never had an issue with it.

I switch between Diesel Kleen (grey in summer, white in winter) or amsoil (concentrate in summer, along with some cold flow improver in the winter)... ok so I bought my truck last march and just caught the last 2 months of winter last year, and we have been in "winter" here for about a month. Either way between avoiding gel issues and also added lubrication it seems like cheap insurance.... I just hope the old guy who was the original owner of my truck before me ran some lubrication additive
