I've been debating on going another "safer route" with the lbz in regards to adding air. I have an s475 sitting in a box and planned on compounding over stock then 45 over nozzles. Now I am getting nervous and thinking I should try to back off a little or go another route. Its a DD truck and I don't tow very often. And even when I do it is a 23' camper.

I know tuning can make or break the whole setup but my goals are a low 12 while staying streetable on a stock motor without it. Being in the higher risk threshold.

Danville 68 or 72 plus 45 nozzles, maybe the fleece modded Turbo

S366 gated with 45 nozzles

S475 or maybe a 71-72 as a single with 45 Nozzles

Or just stick with my original default compound idea.

Out and about
The 475 over stock is a popular set up. Not sure I'd go with a 366 as a single. Would not be scared to go with 60% over injectors. Just my opinions.

The camper is an ultralite camper. Not sure on weight but my father in laws 01 f150 tows it. Lol. But I would say under 5k. Y'all are thinking bigger nozzles for smaller pw and stick with the s475 over stock then.

I would stick with stock injectors and the 475 over the stocker... leave it at 500-550hp, will tow like a SOB and keep egts low. Stock injectors will be more efficient and at 550 your pulse isn't going to be out of control...

x2 also it is a lot cheaper, also you can't get the "lets turn up the wick" on bigger injectors.

Buy my Danville 72 :D

In all seriousness I'm running my 72 with stock injectors and it handles and tows just fine especially if you downshift while towing and keep it above 2000+ rpm's.

I feel you on the turn it up cuz I can bug. Lol. But my main worry is pulse width. I'm nit gonna tune myself on the twins so I'll have my tuner build a safer tune but wouldn't a shorter pw with larger nozzles benefit me while staying around 550- 600 whp dyno tuned? And would tuning for HP vs tq be a safer bet as well? I am just going off of what I've read elsewhere on what the safer areas are on a non built lbz. Everyone talks about the Max HP they can run safely but what is the numbers for tq?

Personally I think it it safer to run injectors and run a smaller pulse rather than tuning anything over 2750us on an Lbz stock injectors. Plus you will hold rail easier if you get larger injectors and can lower the pulse some.

Am I researching correctly on the tuning that I should try to tune for HP vs tq. So if I went 550-600 I should they for 1k tq or less to keep the rods from getting a little shorter.

You'll crack a piston before you shorten rods

This^^^ The reason I would recommend the 475 over a stock turbo and no injectors and stay at 500-550 is because of the piston cracking issues on the LBZ... I feel at that power level your relatively safe. As mentioned several times your not going to beat that setup with any single charger. My truck with a 75mm over my stocker LLY turbo was hands down the most fun & versatile the truck ever was....

Anytime you take any of these engines over 500hp your flirting with broken parts, cracked pistons LBZ/LMM, LB7/LLY bent rods, All break cranks...

I'm guessing a 2800-2900 pulse tune with the twins would get you in the 500-550 range... That is not that big in my opinion. Bigger injectors just put that temptation out there to turn it up more & I feel the stock injectors offer the best economy. So if money is tight stick with what you already have:thumb: If you have a pile of cash burning a hole in your pocket do injectors as well.

Just do them one at time. If you have the 475, slap the beotch on there no sense letting it sit.

Do injectors later or start saving for a built bottom end.
