Well I dropped a cylinder the other day. Got to pull her out and see exactly what the cause was but I sincerely believe that when it was at the body shop getting a new frame the dumb ass tech sprayed it to restart the engine after the switch over. After I got it back it has had a pretty noticeable vibration that didn't exist before it went to the shop. I've been trying to chase the cause and I guess I finally found it but just a little too late. I've only put about 300 miles on it since I've gotten it back.

I don't plan on letting it rest if I determine that it was causes by the shop. Coincidently the shop lost its Pro status with Allstate also.

You really think a little ether caused you to lose a cylinder???

When the vibration at idle and off idle didn't exist before they switched it over I believe there is something they did that caused the issue which lead to other issues. Let's spray a little into your engine on start up and see what happens? I've seen ether, gas, laquer thinner and others shred glow plug diesels before. I don't think it's a coincidence. When it taken apart then I will know if that could have occurred.

Since I built it in 08 I have shot well over a case of ether into it. I'll post a video of me shooting ether into my DD also if you like.:D

What causes ether to be deadly to a Diesel is glow plugs. And chances are if they shot ether into it with the glow plugs hot it would have blown an intake manifold apart.

Maybe they took it for a "spirited" joy ride and tore something up??

i would probably lean towards the "spirited joy ride" as the cause, i myself have used ether on many engines many times and have never hurt anything, of course the ones i work on are usually heavy equipment but it doesn't matter, plus some big trucks have an attached can with a button in the cab to give it a shot of "sweet air" so it isn't just the ether that hurts it, its the ether hitting the hot glowplugs or spraying ether in and letting the glowplugs heat up!

I don't think a joy rode did it. The tech was pissed off about me complaining about other items he damaged on my truck. They had it for three months and really didn't do a good job at anything except being careless with reassembling the truck. I should know this weekend what may have caused it.

My wife was driving it and wrecked it. No sheet metal damage at all but it cracked the frame at the rear cross member and bent the frame behind the drivers upper a-arm. Another women ran up under it and since it was lifted hit the front tire while turning.
