Hey guys n gals,

my name is Dave, im 20 and recently got our 06 duramax as my dad was frustrated with fuel filters and was gonna get another gasser instead but i decided to buy it instead. I work, live, bleed our family farm and would never give it up.

Truck is bone stock at the moment, plans are to keep it relatively easy as it still has a large portion of its 100K mi warranty left and theres a buncha people who drive it so i dont want them to even be capable of screwin something up.

It's a plain jane truck, manual everything. Think the only option it has on the inside is the fold down center seat lol.

Plans (at the moment) are probably an Edge, MBRP 5" turbo back or possibly a stack (still in a debate), EGR/PCV mod, and a transgo jr when it gets warm again. If ya'll have other suggestion it'd be great, im sure it wont be long till i'll want more power like everyone else.

It's job 5 months out of the year is to pull 10,000lbs on a 17' dovetail trailer hauling seed from april-june, and from september-november pulling a 40,000lb (loaded) wagon as seen below, so the mods need to be able to accomodate those needs.

I had lots of problems with the edge on my truck, maybe they got the bugs worked out of it for the lbz's  You might be happier with EFI Live, Egt and boost gauges :D

I wouldnt know where to start with EFI-Live...i plan on gauges (boost, egt)as well (should've added that) all C2's from autometer will be shipping tomorrow :)

I know efilive does alot as i watched a couple people tune before, but i would be calling all of you asking for help lol. I think the on the fly tuning would be better suited because when we're in season on the farm anyone out of 11 guys will be driving this truck at any given time.

the red truck is an outcast....doesnt match anything else on our farm except the red wagon behind it that was being pulled by our 08dmax because our F800 graintruck failed the DOT test at the time the picture was taken so it was in the shop lol.

X2.

a couple more things too.

1. If you let someone tune it on the fly to a tune capable of limping the trans, isn't that a problem?
2. If you're afraid of EFI Live you can try a PPE or ATS tuner. I've got a PPE hot +2, but i hear the two are practically the same. This type of tuner is probly the EASIEST type to take back to stock at any time on your own (important for warranty stuff).
3. As for EFI Live, if you can find someone who has it and knows how to use it close by, i think you can setup a little dealy with 3 tunes on a switch for prolly 3-400? Might be worth lookin in to. Refer to #1.

4. This is a vicious cycle. You run out of trans first (it'll be susceptible to limp mode faults after you add around 100rwhp) and then run out of adequate fueling immediately after (that's as far as I know so far, but it's endless).
