hey guys just wanna make sure before i pull the trigger on buying the bulbs, ive already done the dash conversion for leds, and getting ready to tackle the rest of my truck interior. Ive found 2 diff bulbs that people are using 5mm and 3mm. I can see the dash being 5mm 360 degree but what about the rest of the truck?? will the 3mm blue with 470 ohm resistors be the ones i want? and to those that have done them would 40 be enough bulbs to get or should i go with 50? As of right now im starting on the 4x4 board, the light selector and the fog light button. thanks alot guys

The truck uses a combination of 5mm and 3mm I purchased 12v diffused LEDs from www.led-switch.com made it a lot easier no resistors to solder in and even light that dims very consistent. BUT!! in the door controls you have to purchase regular 1-5-3.5V LED's depending on your color they are not 12V. I purchased:
50 5mm 12V diffused blue LED's
20 3mm 12V diffused blue LED's
10 3mm 3.5V diffused blue LED's
2 5mm 12V diffused RED LED's
I had more than enough LED's for the job the red were for the climate control so it wasn't blue behind the heat section I also added multiple extra LED's in around the different boards so that there were no hot spots.
If I remember right the climate control and dimmer are 5mm
The steering wheel controls 4x4 selector and door switches are 3mm hope that helps some I don't remember the exact count because I added extra hopefully someone does.

I would love to do this but it seams like a ton of work.My luck id do it and have 5 bulbs out over the entire truck and have to rip it all apart again to fix it.

You don't need any 3mm bulbs unless you have butt Warmers. That's the only spot that uses 3 mm. The rest of the vehicle is 5mm. And 50 is plenty. I've done three different vehicles. My 2005 lly lt3, a 2002 Tahoe, and just did a 2005 lly basic package. I will post up some vids.

Just checked them out and thanks for the info. I forget his name of df that did a big write up but never answered back my question as to make sure I was getting the right bulbs . What you end up spending if you don't mind me asking?

From the most expensive LEDs $0.79 a piece, total of 50 and resistors I think where around $1-$2 for a pack of 5 and need ten packs total it was around $50

Man, I guess I'm going the expensive route... I ordered the 4 kits usspeedo offers. They should be here Friday. I'll let you all know how it goes!

I would recommend straw-hat or flat top LEDs to disperse the light better. I have done my dads 2007 LBZ SLT, My 05 LLY SLT, and my brothers 07 1500 SLE all with 3mm bulbs. I calculate my LED's at 20mcd, and use a higher resistor value than ohms law calls for, usually 510-560ohm unless I am running series in some switches for less headache, and it definitely helps them last longer than the typical 470ohm. I also used 3mm everywhere except for the gauge cluster which are 5mm, because I replaced even the indicator lights in the switches that were amber.
