I know the resistor went out. It runs all the time now even when the truck is off and no key is in it. Had to pull fuse so I don't drain battery. I just need to know what the part # is. It's the auto climate. Not manual. 03' crewcab. Also, My blend door for the face, foot, and defrost seems to have went out. It's stuck on face. No matter which one I choose. where under the dash and on the system is it located? Will I have to take apart the whole dash? Man I hope not. Thank you all for your help.

the mode actuator is right above your drivers throttle foot. turn your hvac on and try giving it a little tap see if you can free it up. i am not sure on the part num for the resistor though. call a dealer. or try rock auto.

This is taken off of Rock auto's site. It only seems to have the one for manual controls. Mine is auto. I don't wanna get one and find out it's the wrong one. I'm unemployed. can't afford mistakes right now. Plus, I can get a discount at Napa. Friend works at a shop that gets parts from them.

try a scrap yard. picked up a blower motor, resistor, and pigtail out of an 07 for $25

I would, but there's not many yards here in AnchorHELL. And the ones that are here, don't have many chevy trucks. Most are either parted out already or burned to a crisp. And most of the ones that are there have manual controls. I will try non the less. I did a search here and on DP and found the Part # for the manual controls. But not for Auto.

As for the blend door. I had one idot (to stupid to be a full blown IDIOT) at O'Rielly's tell me it's the hvac control unit that goes bad on these trucks. Told him he was full of it. It's the Blend door actuator. He agreed with me. They want $144 for it.

How hard is it to get to? And you would happen to have the part # for it handy would you?

I might do a Tutorial on both of them. I didn't see one anywhere.

Sorry for the long post. I get long winded sometimes. It's 5 deg outside and I really don't want to work out there. Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

most junk yards will ship.

can't remember the name but I got mine at a place on Rawsonville Rd, Belleville MI.

.

They took me upstairs and had a shelf with 10-20 blowers from classic body trucks. not sure for your exact model/ or how many resisters they have, but might be worth a google search and phone call if you need to save some $$

I'm also trying to get it done ASAP. which means local. I'm just here trying to get the correct part number for the auto one so I don't waste time, fuel, and money. Thank you though.

Went to the dealership and got the part. Seems it's a dealer only part for those with the Auto climate controls. At least it is up here. Got one from napa and it was the wrong part. Mine has the Metal heat sink on it. And it has the 3 wire plug as opposed to the 7 or 8 wire plug. All the parts stores up here carry is the one for the manual controls. Wrecking yards didn't have squat. For those that need it. Here is the part # 89018778. And as soon as I get the paper scanned, I will have the blow up of the HVAC system for all of you.

From Rock auto's site.

The Blower motor resistor could be one of the problems if the blower only works on hi or none of the settings. Another solution could be a bad ignition switch too, since some of the wires controlling this mechanism are ran thru the ignition switch. My friend had that happen to his and mine was just the resistor pack fortunetly. So, I would check the blower motor, the resistor pack and the ignition switch. Those are the three main problems that cause this.

these stupid spambots are getting smarter and smarter every day.

I'm wondering if he read the whole thing. If he did, then he would have seen that I found the problem and fixed it. Plus, the ignition switch was already replaced. I don't know everything. But I have worked on vehicles for quite some time. It's not my first rodeo. Not picking on you Ben. You seem to be a real smart guy and very knowledgeable.

Same issue here, AUTO Climate Control, replaced the PWM module and the fan comes on now but only when it feels like it. Any ideas as were to look? Its starting to get cold and the window keeps fogging up.

Hi everyone! First post...
I am also having this problem with my 2003 sierra, today I changed the PWM module as well. The fan came on, and worked fine until the next time I started the truck (about 5 min. later).
I have reason to believe the fan is still in good working condition, as well as the auto temperature controller. When I adjust the temperature set-point the display is working correctly, but the fan is MIA. I do not use the auto function on the controller, only the manual temperature setting and fan speed control.
Someone has posted previously that a ignition switch could be the culprit.
I have also read on the forum that the ignition can be the cause of several dead end issues.
Tomorrow I will be replacing my ignition switch, and keep everyone posted on the prognosis.
