I have the AMP Steps on my truck and see that they now come with the LED lights. I would have to buy the lighting kit and the new control module in order for them to work. That's almost $200 to get some led lights on my steps.

The Question: Has anyone bought regular waterproof LED's and hooked them up so they turn on when the door opens?

I found some on super bright led's that I think would work, but IDK if there would be a lot of extra stuff involed like resistors and all that?

I would think I could just tap them into the wires that give power to my interior lights and when they turn on so would the LED's?

Any info would be appreciated.

I called them about doing the same thing as I also have the older module. I would like to know how it works out for you.I'm sure people without the steps could use this mod as well.

Yeah I will get a parts list and everything together when I am finished and let everyone know how it works. I am into parts for about $25 and don't see it costing much more than that.

Well got it done last night and it looks great. I spent about $25 on the lights and supplies to hook the lights up. I think it took me about 2 hrs because I like it to look neat and I had to take off both door panels to hook up the wires. I set them up so they work whenever the interior lights are on. I will post up pics when I can the pics didn't turn out very good but you get the point.
