I am looking to reduce the rotating weight on my truck. Does anyone know if forged aluminum rims are lighter than he factory steel rims.

Im pretty sure my factory wheels were forged aluminum. If they werent forged i know they were aluminum, they are very light and i havnt found anything lighter than those. Problem is they are only 6.5" wide.

I went through this some time ago........the PYO's are 17 lb.
I could not find ANY thing lighter (unless looking at the two-piece off-road-only wheels)
The aftermarket forged wheels are HEAVY!!
There are some 16" x 8" cast alum. Raceline wheels (at 18 lb. ea.).
Let me know if you want some help with a deal on them;).

OEM Alum Wheel = 17lb

P.M. me a price on the 16x8" cast alum wheel. Can you get slicks too? How much? Total price out the door?

Old post of Pat's

46 lbs for 10x16" RealWheel with 30x14x16 DOT M&H Cheater Slick.

MH race tire 275/55-16 = 27lb
OEM Steel Wheel, SRW = 35lb
OEM Alum Wheel = 17lb
OEM 245 tire = 40lb
OEM 265 tire (SRW) = 47lb

The MH tire seems to fit well on either the alum or steel factory wheel and weighs 44lb on the alum wheel, which about 1/2 the weight of the factory SRW combo, or 13lb less than OEM 245 combo.

WOW! Are they pricey? I want some!

Actually the wheels are crap :( and they where not cheap. He had to ground the heck out of the caliper. I don't know if Pat has found another place to make them yet. I will ask him when he gets home from working on Casper.

Problem is that I am running a dually :D not single wheel,

I have seen a few rims that you remove the dual rim in the back and replace with a single forged aluminum that uses a tire that s the same width as he dual tires.

You need to get a hold of Chris (The Neens) He did that on his Dad's dually. If I get some time I will try to do a search, I have a pic of it somewhere.
