I’ve had this odd sound I started noticing the past few days, maybe it’s getting more noticeable as the temps get “colder”
it sounds like a pump buzz/cavitation and it comes and goes at random while idling. I can hear it faintly from the cab, and I can definitely hear it on passenger side with hood open. It sounds very similar to the lift pump, but with similar on/off randomity of the AC compressor
with a stethoscope it really seems to be coming from the alternator. I am going to throw a new one in tomorrow, but I’ve never heard this type of noise coupled with a dying alternator before... so I’m asking if anyone has any other ideas?
PS pump is leaking, but I topped it off and no change. It also really seems to be coming from passenger/alternator
