now, if you REALLY REALLY want six sppeds you can buy that kit that suncoast makes that converts your 5 speed to a six speed. after you look at the price for the kit you will probably say to yourself "for that amount i can have a built transmission". the 150 rpm drop is not worth it!!

Well..... It'll bolt up, but in order for it to work, you need to ensure that it is from a LBZ, not LMM and has the hole for the sensor in the belhousing and you'll need to change the VB to a 5 speed VB as well as the 5 speed internal harness & NSBU. You'll also need to change the cooler fittings.

Technically, you could modify a 5 speed harness to connect to the 6 speed solenoids, but it won't work 100% right. Don't ask me how I know ;).

So..... A LBZ 6 speed will bolt up, but it'll only work as a 5 speed. :)

Oh... And the Suncoast 6-speed kit? I wouldn't buy it for any price... I've heard about way too many unexplained failures and general flakiness on trucks that have had that kit. If you want a 6 speed, buy a LBZ. Or if you have a 2003+ LB7 or LLY and feel like doing some swapping, swapping a LBZ & 6-speed with all associated electronics isn't that hard.

I didn't want to write alot of what cougar said so I basically said it won't work and he just answered the why part. Just build your trans and be happy. Or do as cougar said and upgrade to a lbz and you can run the 6speed
