Asking for any info to help fix my trans. First of all I have changed fluid @ 20,000 miles almost since new. it has 333,000 miles on it and it stiil runs great when its below 175 degrees. when the road temperature gets above 90 degrees it would show 200 degrees and whine like a big big until recently it stuck in high gear, not limp mode. ( experienced that before). The Allison authorized repair shop tested the transmission and said all tests came back green, and its not the trans. the said it threw a code during one of there tests telling them low voltage from ignition. Gm wants 280.00 to replace ignition switch but say no guarantee it will be fixed. Fluid always looks clean and red. maybe a quarter of a thimble full of metal dust on magnetic washer. Also at times it feels like something is out of balance like an uneven load in a washing machine. Two Engine injectors are missing Could that cause the unbalanced feel or is it the converter clogged. I am going to get the truck back from the dealer tomorrow, ( 220.00 for looking at it only), and replace the ignition switch, but if anyone has had this before, please advise.
Thanks, Frontierman

Yes two holes not firing can do that. And an ignition switch cost about 30$ and take 15 minutes to change.

Allison 1000

sorry, death in family.

opened up the filter and unfolded it found several very small metal flakes. i would upload pics if someone would direct me to the directions to do so.

I drove it home from GM and it shifted fine and never went over 175 degrees but the outside temp was only 82.

as for injectors, Gm quoted 6,144.00 because they said the age of the truck they may break a lot of othger parts taking it apart and didn't want to tell me one number and charge me another.

it runs well considering but i cannot afford to pay that for a truck with 334,000 miles on it.

i will replace the ignition switch as soon as i can and update. I found the write up on here and it doesn,t look like rocket science,

Thanks .

P.S. Mike L. please tellme what you think about the flecks in the filter.
Thanks, Frontierman

Good luck on the ignition switch. GM has a bad batch of them. I just got my p/u back today after the tech changing the tumbler and housing and trying 3 different GM switches. They ended up putting an after market one in it. Fortunately they didn't charge me much.

This was after I tried changing it on my own and couldn't get it to start. So when I finally did get it started I drove it to the dealership to change it there. Still wouldn't start. Tech, a friend came out to help me and he couldn't get it to start.
