How important are the alignment dowels on heads , valve covers and so on?? Are they absolutely necessary or strictly for ease of assembly ????

They are important and have to be there on everything but the valve covers IMO. :thumb:

I don't need any, there was a thread awhile ago about buying them. There was like 10 different part numbers that people all said were for the alignment dowels and every one of then ended up not being correct and no one ccould find any.

Okay found out for anyone wondering. 94200819 is infact the rear adapter dowel. They are infact shorter. Gm says to use that as the head alignment dowel. Might be a Isuzu number for the dowels somewhere. I'm gonna try and use the rear adapter ones depending on how tall they are
