Good evening,
I have replaced a bunch of parts on the front end of the truck such as the passenger upper control arm, all ball joints, all two CVs, two wheel bearings, and shocks. Then since I have touched the upper control arm on the passenger side and levelled the truck with the torsion bars I needed an alignment. So I brought it to the stealership where they charged me 300$ to perform an alignment. It was 100$ for the alignment, 100$ exta for the camber/caster re-adjustment and 100$ to free up the bolts on the driver side upper control arm adjuster. The alignment guy told me he broke a guide pin in the process as the bolt was really hard to remove... I myself had lots of grief with the passenger one but a good air hammer took them right off without breaking anything... Either way I was kinda pissed he broke a cam adjuster bolt especially since I paid 300$ for an alignment!. Now if I look on the driver side I am missing two pins and where these would go the camber adjustment plate isn't even lining up with the hole where the pin would normally be. On the passenger side there was one missing which I already knew about but that particular one lines up... I made sure it did when reinstalling the control arm at the same location and from the looks of it he didn't adjust that one quite as much. You would think someone would just stick a punch inside and line it up using the punch and removing it afterwards. I have found some jobber Raybestos cam guide pins on the Rockauto website but here is my question...
Is it okay if the pin holes don't line up with the cam adjuster since the alignment seems alright and was in spec on the rack? If that isn't the case I imagine I should request they fix the side that they broke and re-align? Should I worry about the pins or is it okay the way it is and I shouldn't worry too much?
I have no idea but the alignment seems alright. My truck does pull either left or right on uneven roads but it simply seem to follow the road crown as it somewhat used to be. I should say that I am running stock tires and that I just levelled my truck by lifting the front 1". I have an 02 CC which I had for a year now. I plan on going with 285's in the future which will lift it up another inch which will require for it to be aligned once more. I am never going back to that stealership for an alignment again although.
