hey guys, i am getting back into truck stuff after a long cold winter and finally going to buy the lift pump. i decided on the air dog based on what i hear from you now.

question 1, the "pickup straw" not sure what it is for, and do i need it. i already have the kennedy vent line pick up mod done with 5/8 hose and the ppe billet pickup mod done. 5/8 line going to existing aftermarket fiter.

question 2, do i need a fuel pressure gauge in the cab, i am not racing for sure, and dont need to monitor lift pump pressure all the time. i would put a gauge under the hood to set the pump pressure but that is all. i monitor my frp using efi like everybody else.

thanks guys for the info.

I would wait just a little longer for the airdog II. Its a beefier unit and they are gonna eliminate the need for a draw straw. But if you get the regular airdog the draw straw is needed on the 150 because it needs to be able to pull alot of fuel but then you run into 1/4 tank issues if the draw straw is cut to the wrong length and even if you get it right it sometimes wont pull fuel under a 1/4 tank. Thats another reason Id wait for the airdog II. They wont have 1/4 issues. I dont see alot of gys running a fuel pressure gauge for their lp so i doubt its needed but it coudnt hurt, guages are always cool:D

I saw a trick. you install the draw straw like the PPU P/U (On sending unit) puts it in stock location and eliminates 1/4 tank issue.

No, but if you go on PPE site, they show install on sending unt. I will have pics in near future, thats what I'm doing on mine with a 150

The draw straw is just as big as what he has now. I didn't put that straw in because I for 1 do not want to drill the tank. And then I read somewhere else, I think on DP, that there was a guy that hooked his up to the stock fuel pickup.

I am running stock pick up on my LBZ with the air dog 150, and no 1/4 tank issues, if you have already changed your pickup you are good to go.

We have installed many of them with the draw straw and had no 1/4 tank issues. I have raced my truck with the low fuel light on with no issues. We have also installed one without the draw straw and gotten over 520hp out of the stock LMM it was on.

Stacks I would hook up to what you already have and if you already have an aftermarket filter setup I would consider running a raptor pump instead of the AirDog. You don't need a gauge in the cab but it is nice to have as far as knowing that you are getting positive pressure at the CP3 and that your filters aren't clogged.
