Not sure if this is in right area but I'm installin mpi twins on my truck in a few weeks. Anyway my question is what manifolds and up pipes would be a good set up? Cast flows, extreme? Or just the extreme up pipes for stock manifolds and just run the lml manifold on driver side to keep the cost down? And if I do just up pipes can I upgrade to manifolds later? Any opinions would be great. Thanks. Would like to keep in lowest cost/power improvement as possible. Tryin to save for motor build. Lol

If your trying to save for a motor build, save for a motor build! I dont think Rob noticed any gain when he added them to his twin setup. Im still using all the stock stuff including stock DS manifold.

Really? No gains? Well my main issue is I have a cracked up pipe and instead of fixing it I'd rather just get something that flows better. So just lookin for some in put. Maybe just the up pipes will be best for now then. Thanks for the reply. Motor build is my main goal for sure.

The better the flow the more power you'll make,do the exhaust you want for the build its 1 thing you dont need to worry about when it comes time.If you do anything less you will probably wonder what it would run like with the full exhaust,it helps with egts a little also.Put down head porting for the build also :thumb:

I would just buy a stock of someone and replace the cracked one. Lot of money that could be put to better things. Jmho

So if money isn't an object which it is, just sayin, up pipes and manifolds are not worth it. Cause if that's the case I guess I can prolly just fix the up pipe. No clue why it cracked anyway. Only have 64k on the truck. And a really well taken care of 64k to. Thing is my baby. All I know is I have to fix this problem before the twins and I figured I would by a better flowin set up vs stock. No clue what to do. Should prolly just go with what rpm said. Motor is my main goal, but if I need them later? I'm lost. Lol

Really its up to you and your budget. Stock manifolds have been showin to work on 800+ hp trucks. Aftermarket manifolds and uppipes have showin to make more hp ontop of that. How much seems to very a decent amount as everyones setup is usually different. Im shooting for 700 hp and dont plan to change manifolds

I guess I have the money to do it. That's not what I'm sayin. Is it worth fixing the crack or buyin stock up pipe rather then buyin bigger. I mean the up pipes don't look that much fun and I would rather only have to do then once if its possible. Next to pullin motor for the build.

so its sounding like your just needing someone to kick you in the butt and say "buy them already" so do it! they wont hurt you by buying them and putting them on, you will only benifit.

Just going off what you have listed in your sig, you are using the EGR riser support plate that lets you delete the EGR without changing the up-pipe? Is it your passenger's side pipe that is cracked?

Well lets see twins make lots of air.....it goes in the motor and makes lots of exhaust so yeah id say it would:rofl:

It makes the motor more efficent

The whole motor being a big air pump, and flowing better with less restriction is understandable. With somebody who has 100's of passes/a bunch of track time, and reports no gain/loss.. And two identicle twinned trucks with the exact same tuning running side by side, the truck without them running .2 faster... I would say its not worth the money. Im sure it might free up some EGT's or power, but not worth the funds IMO! On an all out/max effort truck, I would use them.

Yes its my passenger up pipe that's cracked. And the egr is completely gone. Intake heater and all. It came with a plate to block off the port comin from the up pipe. Kinda pisses me off really. Everything is super clean and everything but I have a 1/2 to 5/8 crack letting a lot of air out. Which I figure can't be good for those 4 cylinders being the turbo doesn't even build any boost. So I turned it down on smallest tune and tryin to figure out what to order. Twins should be here next week so would like to do my pipe at same point being its gettin injectors and will have plenty of time to get it all done.

Assume the motor isn't gettin the usual air flow that in normally does being its cracked and has a big leak, the 4 cylinders are being flooded with fuel and not being cleared up correct? So its bad to drive and that's why I turned the tune down and havnt drove it much. Maybe 10 miles back to shop.

Have Nathan (MPI) send you an LB7 up pipe, like he did with the LMM kit's. It delete's the EGR Y! Or remove the stock unit, cut it clean where it Y's, and weld a plate to it, if you want to save some money! Your going to have the down pipe off anyhow to do the twins... Its easy to get to from there.
