Air Filters

I know there is a thread or two lurking around diesel place about this but i figured i would bring it up over here also. For the new bees and maybe some of us members that have been here longer can benefit. Which air filter is best of the best. Is there one.


I have a afe on my truck now and it sucked its self in. so my choices are

Amsoil, Afe, Airraid, K&N, And maybe there are others i dont know about what do yall perfer?

I'm running an S&B. Hopefully it's doing what it's suppose to!

Ofcourse, a lot prefer the "looks" of the S&B, my reasoning was good ratings, reviews, and price.

Years ago, on the TDP, someone did extensive testing on air filters for our trucks. The answer? The paper filter does the best job of filtering. And at HP levels up to 500, there is not much power to be gained by switching.

After using your aftermarket air cleaner for a month, remove it and see how much dirt is in the intake pipe. Factory unit will hardly leave any and most aftermarket will leave too much.

I have sold my efi live and a couple other goodies on my truck to start over. First on the list is tranny, Rearend, Efi live, Turbo, Take the danm stack out and get some dual 5 inch on her. And a lbz cp3 that modifyied. My goal for the truck is 650 hp and keep it alive. Figured i would let yall no

what are you going to use for a tuner? and what look did you decide on for the truck?

Isn't EFI kind of a starting point??? And isn't it necessary to use in tuning??

Kind of like selling the truck to buy the tires IMO....

Is that similar to EFI?? I thought EFI was the only true custom tuner out..... I'm probably off-base, but that was my impression. If so, then by all means good luck.... :hug:

an HPT is pretty much the same thing as efi just with different interface and a few things here and there. Not sure why he would be getting rid of efi though

no air cleaner works best! no restrictions that way!!

03 dmax i think i will go with around 4 inchs of lift ranch hand bumbers. And converting over to 4x4
