I have a factory air box with the air box mod was running a k&n replacement but it makes a lot more smoke and turbo lag. the stock filter performs a lot better. what filter should i go with? I heard a paper filter is better than a cotton filter. who makes a stock replacement paper filter?

I use the K&N and I prefer it for two reasons:
1-it's serviceable - last time I went to buy an OEM it was the same price as a K&N.
2-It locks itself in the airbox. I don't like the way the stock one fits.

But each to his own I guess. How dirty is your K&N that it causes lag and smoke? Is your filter minder sucking down into the red?
Oh and KB is right-OEM is a Donaldson.

I haven't done anything to mine but I have been thinking of removing that splash guard behind the head light.
My IAT's have been a little higher than I like so I may need to go with something different for an intake.

I just ordered a S&B intake because i was having the same problem. IAT temps were up almost to 120 cruising down the road and i got above 150 sitting in traffic. I was checking with my Hot +2. i will see if the S&B will fix it.

Post your results when you get it in. I'm curious as well.

djDmax07, if you do go with the banks, please post as well. There are lots of posts about pretty these intakes are and the magazines advertising monstorous HP gains, but nobody seems to post any "real" tech info-except for Pat when he put that Banks scoop and downpipe on Wendy.

I'm afraid, SB is mainly another hype company, who thinks that in-house ISO testing is some kind of standard to live by. I was disappointed...JMO

I will see when i get it. I was going to go with banks and the ram air BUT the more i read alot of people where having problems with tire rub on the scoop. My truck is lower and im going to put bigger wheel/tire so i know it probally rub. Thats why i changed my mind.

I think the reason for that is that the intakes on the newer trucks are a little bigger so intake changes make more of an effect.
Just my $.02!
