Air box for compounds

Hello, I have a LMM with large compounds.. I'd like to do an air box around the filter. I don't really like the filter sitting right behind the light soaking up rain or getting coated with snow. Does anyone make one off the shelf? Has anyone built one for their trucks, if so please let me know who makes one or post pics of the ones you have made. Thanks.

Yup, and no fender liners...

I have a small piece of plastic to keep debris from the tire off the filter.

Ya that's my thoughts. Just didn't know what others where doing. It would be nice to get the filter out of the Inclement weather and away from the engine heat.

I made this little filter box for the intake i made for my old turbo. It doesn't keep engine heat out but it shields the filter on the bottom and back. Could easily have made a front for it also to shield behind the headlight.

I'll try to get pics of my partial setup. I had the same problem with mine. Truck still sees mud/snow/water daily and after surrounding the filter with snow I made a shield that blocks the road at least. Lazer cut it out of some engraving plastic so it seals from the frame around the fender liner all the way up to the bumper. Just need to get some sheet metal to finish forming the box around the filter so it only pulls air from the front grille area.

Are you looking to build it yourself or have someone do it? The box I made could just as easily been made into a box for a twin setup.

If you have a grinder, cut off wheels, and a half decent welder you can make one really easy. I think I had maybe an hours work into the one I made.

Skills

I think for the most part I should be able to do most of it. I have no welding skills. I do have help with that though. I'd almost like to do some type of air scoop for under the front bumper if I could get it to look good. I kist don't like how the filter sits right behind the light getting set from rain and sucking up hot air from under the hood.

I built a box for the K&N intake on my old saab. I know this is a different application but it was very simple. I just used a couple old street signs. Used the corner of the work bench and a hammer to make the bends and just riveted the pieces together. Came out nice and clean. I used a wire wheel to take all the paint off and it polished up nicely.
