i run firestone ride rites. they are awesome, they have leveled me out with a 16k bumper pull with over a 2k tongue weight. i was way overweight but level as could be.

they will stiffen up your ride a little though, even when empty but if you tow heavy they are a must have IMO

I do not think that one is smoother than the other. Smoothness has alot to do what pressures you run.

I have Airlift and am very pleased.

I've heard of people having frame problems from using air bags. Has anyone running them noticed or experienced any problems?

I have and sell Pac Brake kits, their bags are top of the line and are stronger than Air Lift or Firestone. I've had exceptional luck with mine, install is a breeze, and help tremendously while under load. Let me know if you need any help.

That is new one on me. They mount where the stock bumps stops where. I have had them on my truck for over 3 years. Sledpulling and all no issues. If they side mounted on the frame like 2nd gen Drudges I could see how it might cause issues. But they mount under the frame. The frame is reinforced there for the bump stops.

It was kind of second hand info. As my dad says, "'I heard' and 'they say' are the two biggest liars ever." That's why I wanted to get some info from guys who are running them.

Simon has had bags on his '05 for for 4 years no probs, mine for 2 and no probs. We both have the airlift and the bags are still solid-but the electronic controllers on both of ours have had solenoid issues which are now discontinued and can't be found so I am thinking of switching to the ride right electronic system.

IIRC the Air lift bags-like most are made by Firestone.

i have had firestone bags on since 02 and have had no issues. I run the incab controller and can level side to side. I have had about 4K pounds in the back and is still rode level... with 110psi in the bags. Just make sure you dont run any less than 5psi to keep the inner bellows from rubbing on the outer and causing a leak. -jeff

I was just checking out the clearances on my truck and it looks the exhaust on the driver side might interfere with the bag does any one else have duals with stock height truck and air bags?

I have a 4" exhaust with bags and have no clearance issues. I have had mine since 04. I tow a 17,000pd 5er and it sits level, no problem.

I also have run mine a 0 psi when unloaded and haven't had any rubbing issues or damage to the bag. Even with 5 psi I noticed the ride was harder.

Throw a set of the bilsteins on there at the same time, you'll love it.

If you had a Magnaflow kit, air bags won't work, as the drivers over axle pipe goes in the same area as the bag would, is why I asked. If your exhaust pipe on the drivers side goes between the shock and the drive wheel, you will have no problems with a air bag setup, but if it goes between the spare tire and the shock, then it will not work.

a word of advise. You might want to put a limiting stap on your axle to keep it from going to far and pulling the bags apart. I know that most people havn't had this problem. But when you get some J*CK*$$ at sam's club that thinks he knows all cause he works there and you just a customer and don't know $h*T. They lift your truck up by the frame and wonder what the hell that sound was at the back of your truck. I told them not to, and to lift it at the axle. What's real sad is when you have to show them how to balance your tires when they are telling you that your BRAND NEW tires are bad. I love it when I can make people eat crow. Not often, But on occasion. Sorry for the rant. Just don't want nobody to go through it too.
